I want to be a photographer or a photojournalist when I graduate. I want to have this job because I like to capture things that some people can not see or what I can see and show them the world through a different perspective. I enjoy finding the small details in things that no one would see.
To be a photographer I would need to have my high school diploma and my bachelor’s degree in photography. I will have to go to school for four years to become a photographer. I will have to pay $37,606 but if I get scholarships I could pay less. My annual wage as a photographer I will be making $42,770. This means my college debts would be able to be paid in a few years.
The art in photography is luxury because we don’t really need pretty pictures. but it can be a necessity for the news to be able to show what’s happening in the world. However photography is growing but it is also declining, many people have different perspectives on this. Some say that because we have phones with really good quality cameras people don’t hire photographers anymore, but there are also people who say there is still a use for professional photography in magazines and newspapers, especially in the fashion industry. Some jobs like famliy photos have been lost from new technology because we have phones that can do it.
In order to be a good photographer, you have to keep up with all of the new technology because it changes every day with new phones and new cameras coming out all the time. If I didn’t keep up with new technology, my photos won’t be as good as other photographers. My competition would have better photos so fewer people would want my photos.
If there was a recession it would affect my job poorly because if people don’t have money they aren’t going to buy my pictures. Some aspects of photography might still have work but for the most part, it wouldn’t last due to the lack of demand. My job could and couldn’t be outsourced overseas because if my job is to take pictures at a school in America for the yearbook, someone in China can’t do that because they aren’t here. On the other hand, if I was just someone who took pictures of landscapes, someone in China could easily do that because they can take pictures of landscapes there too.
To make good money as a photographer, you have to be professional. If you aren’t a higher class, people won’t want to buy your photos because they don’t think you have enough experience. Learning about markets has taught me a lot about the stock market and how incentives work and how people with less money or experience get treated badly. I also learned how to market my photography and advertise art out into the world.
Economists are saying that climate change will cause the economic crisis to increase drastically over the next few years and it will cause food prices and health care costs to increase. I could suffer a small amount from gas and oil being raised in price because for my job, I will have to be driving to get places in order to take pictures. By the time I start working full time the economy is expected to continue failing which will affect my job, the more people don’t have money, the fewer pictures I will be able to sell because people don’t need a picture to survive.
